For the first time in my lifetime, DISD is free from court oversight of its desegregation efforts:
U.S. District Judge Barefoot Sanders issued a ruling Thursday that ends federal oversight of Dallas schools for the first time since 1971.
“The segregation prohibited by the United States Constitution, the United States Supreme Court and federal statutes no longer exists in the DISD,” Judge Sanders wrote in a 40-page ruling.
