Simon provides a really good defense of structural markup. We couldn’t agree more with his top core belief:

Evan looks at the XHTML validation of 100 web sites by “Alpha Geeks.” We by no means qualify as part of that elite group, but you should know that ecrosstexas does not pass mustard either.

P.S. Evan actually looks at 119 sites with 118 failing.

Redesigns

Many sites are being redesigned with adherence to web standardsESPN, Wired, Fast Company, AlltheWeb all come to mind. As Zeldman says, web standards are forward compatible and help ensure that your web site is not obsolete.

Why on earth has Search Engine Watch redesigned with table and font tags? Not to mention that the new site is so much busier than the old one.
