Will you be rapid, reckless, radical in your commitment to unity?

The stakes of unity or disunity

Psalm 133:1. 1 Corinthians 1:10-11

  • The mission of God. His work in the world building bridges to the watching world.

    John 17:20-21

  • Your future. God will destroy you if you cause disunity and harm His church.

    1 Corinthians 3:16-17. 1 Corinthians 1:11-13

Dumb things that divide

  • Ministry styles and preferences (forms)

  • A specific ministry focus. 1 Corinthians 12:1-14:39

  • Lifestyle issues. 1 Corinthians 8:1-9:27

  • Unclear and minor theological issues. 1 Corinthians 11:7-19. 1 Corinthians 13:3. 1 Corinthians 8:1-3.

Habits of unity builders

I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.
1 Corinthians 1:10

  • Repair broken relationships. Live in harmony with one another.

  • Allow no divisions in the church.

  • Set aside preferences for a common mission. Be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

Further Reflection

Unless we have unity, we have nothing to say to our community.
