McKinney North Cheerleaders Gone Wild

Those girls are trash. Trying to say they were being "normal teenagers" is a joke. That would never have been tolerated in my high school. The rules are supposed to apply to all students, and that kind of favoritism is unacceptable. The parents are responsible for their terrible parenting, but the girls were old enough to know they were being obnoxious. Excuses like some of the ones I've seen in these comments is exactly how they turned out so pathetic in the first place. It's called accountability.

Apparently Emily, who claims to be one of the cheerleaders, shouldn't have skipped so many of her English classes. Jeez...it looks like a 3 year old typed that incessant babble! Good luck trying to make it in the real world honey.

Well, I would like to say I'm shocked, but honestly I'm not. It has been several years since I was in high, but let me assure all of you little girls that say it's no big deal, it happens all the time, or give them a break, no ones perfect and everyone makes mistakes. You are correct, and you're very very wrong. It is a very big deal. The behavior, these girls displayed gives them the impression that they are above any kind of authority because they are attractive, or because they were cheerleaders. It does not happen all the time. I was a cheerleader from the time I was in 6th grade until I damaged my acl in 12th grade, and I promise you, our cheerleading coach would have done much worse than try to give us demerits had we acted like that. If even it had gotten to the coach and past our parents. Yes thats right I said parents. Our parents are the first people that should be teaching us right from wrong, and teaching us to be good upstanding people. I'm not saying we didn't have cliques in our school, or that we didn't have girls that thought they were better than everyone else, but it was an honor to represent our school, and the thought of doing something that would embarrass our classmates, was enough to ensure we followed the rules. So you'll forgive me if I don't think these girls deserve a break, and I think it's a horrible lesson these girls had to learn. They sure got what they wanted. Famous, to bad it wasn't for something better than being a bullying bitch, and causing a scandal in their town.

well after reading all this junk.the movie obviosuly blew things out of porportion.i knew karissa and elizabeth and brittney nd all of them.nd ms.theret was a really nice principal.though she slept with our football coach a couple times.but no one post that on the internet.karissa nd danielle billelo were probably the most stuck up but cheerleaders think they are all that.its life.GET OVER IT! ii also knew abby burns.brittany rickets.elizabeth griffin.shauniko dancy.brittany radar.danielle billelo.and the one and only karissa theret.elizabeth was the slut.abby was innocent.so in the end.the mom was a whorer.the daughter was a trashy slut.and the cheerleaders were yeah skanks. But ii was a cheerleader on the squad during this whole incident. I will let u guess who i am.(:

Some teenagers behave better than others. There will always be those who push the limits and do whatever they can get away with, especially when they are looking for attention.

But parents and authority figures have to stand up and be adults.

I actually went to MNHS. Not all of the cheerleaders were bad, just a select few and I will admit that the movie blew some stuff way out of proportion. The cheerleaders never fought each other in such a violent matter, and it was more verbal fights than physical. I NEVER saw a cheerleader get beat up or heard about it, that was all just the movie. And Ms. Theret was actually a wonderful woman who helped me graduate early, I think she was just trying to be more of a friend to her daughter than a mother. I do think that it was wrong for Ms. Theret to look the other way when it came to the cheerleaders, but I will admit that I have seen other students in that school do things far worse than what the cheerleaders did. It's just that they were cheerleaders that makes this so shocking, because cheerleaders are supposed to be good.

One of their dads – who requested anonymity to keep his daughter's name out of the press – said the girls were hardly saints, but they didn't do anything that couldn't also be pinned on other teenagers. They just got caught.

This above statement was one of my favorites... I am actually watchiing this movie right now... why because it won't be long before my grandchildren have to endure going to high school in McKinney. I remember how cheerleaders acted when I was in high school, they thought they ruled the school and they expected students to part the halls when they walked down it... and they truly were in a class by themselves... they lived in their uniforms as if to make a point. I thoroughly enjoyed getting pictures from my high school reunion where true to form, every one of them had grown into divorced fat slobs who no one remembered, you see, there is a God and in the end, He takes care of things. I have also known some very nice girls who happened to be athletic and team spirited and they too were cheerleaders but unfortunately, they could not endure what was "really" expected of them.

So anonymous DAD, who ever you are, most people who do wrong things and get caught are called, "guilty." You are the reason your daughter did what she did... you taught her nothing about having self-respect... you and the other parents of these so-called cheerleaders taught your daughters absolutely nothing... I am thrilled that something was done about this and that the principal was fired. She raised a pig of a daughter and guess what, the leaf did not fall to far from the tree. I hooe this incident follows them for the rest of their lives. This was not blown out of proportion by the media... the picture was real, not fabricated, these girls are not being victimized, they are a symptom of something much deeper, they are the product of a total lack of respect, ethics and have no idea what it truly means to be an athlete... shame on them and their parents who covered for them when they drank and wore their uniform in public and embarassed the entire school. Now who gets the last laugh?

What those girls did wasn't the problem it was the adults who had the authority to punish them and did nothing. The principal/mother allowed the girls to run wild and think that they had the power to say and to whatever they felt like doing. I think these girls are the victims because their parents instilled poor moral values into them. Plus I don't know whether or not they acted as bad as the girls in the movie but they were just plain evil.

I really think people stop making such a big deal out of this story, In my opinion I don't think what these girls did was anything out of the ordinary then any high school. The media blew it out of proportion. I go to high school in San Diego, and the situations that are based in the movie are seen everyday in high school, people picking up the phone in class, drinking on campus ground, even smoking on campus ground, disrespecting the teachers and anything else. It's not really a big deal what they did. And about the pictures, I mean who doesn't put pictures like that on MySpace? Most people post up pictures of themselves like that over the internet, they're not the first to post pictures like that. I'd say put yourself in a high school situation before talking. I went thru my four years of high school already, and from kids cussing out the teachers, to drinking on campus, I have seen most of it all.

I agree with the girls... yea I may not have been the one running the hallways but I made my mark in school. Im pretty sure those of you who were a little on the outspoken side have made your mark aswell. NO we may not all be proud of the things we have done, but due to the parents not being strict or more decipline when it comes to how we acted we never learned our lesson unless we tested the waters ourselves and found out the hard way. Its a better lesson and it tends to stay with us much more than some other mistakes. God asks us to forgive & to not judge so therfore take that advice and let these girls grow up & learn from their mistakes and find out that maybe there are right ways to act and there are wrong ways. Every girl should be raised a lady & they will only learn to understand what a lady is and how she should act once it is explained and pointed out to them. They thought they were getting respect & thats what everyone wants so since they didn't know how to get respect the other way they assumed that was the way. Being a honest, well rounded lady is a way of getting respect and Im sure that is all they want right now is to regain a new and better repuatation and start over & learn from their mistakes so how about leaving them alone and let them handle the situation and take on the responsibilities that will come with what they have done.

I've seen MNHS students, coaching staff and administration turn their heads to behavioral problems based on who and what sport they play. My kids attended MNHS and I could have written a movie about unequitable treatment /discipline that was occurring everyday. I applaud the cheerleading coach for doing the right thing. It sure cleaned house and made adults more accountable. The behaviors these girls displayed were frightening, and I'm sure their parents behavior could be a sequel!

So I just watched the Lifetime movie about them last night and I was surprised by some of the behavior. Of course some of the things they were doing would be normal behavior for girls their age like drinking illegally and taking naughty pics but as a teenager myself I don't approve. The funny thing is that I went to Mckinney High School, one of the three high schools on Mckinney. But when I went there the cheerleaders were quite nice and quiet. But they did seem to have a little authority over other students. Yet I do think that this whole thing could have a little less broadcasted. Girls all over the country are just as mean and cruel. And I wonder, if these girls weren't cheerleaders and just normal, no affiliation to any groups would this story have been so important? But in the end these were normal girls that seemed to be testing their limits.

I am sorry "Hannah", but I am 25 years old and have a myspace profile and I don't have those kind of pictures on there, nor have I ever acted that way. If I ever acted the way some of the ways those girls were acting I would have gotten my tail whipped. I knew right from wrong wether it's in school or out of school. That's probably what need to happen to kids nowadays, maybe they wouldn't act like such hoodlums.

same thing would happen here in kentucky, the kids around here don't intentionally stir up trouble but had these girls been in school here they would have had there ass beaten off by other students, I'm absoutely appalled by what these girls did and how they acted. I do not know how close the movie protrayed the real story so I cannot really open my mouth on everything 2 much but if it did in fact portray it accurately then I feel sorry 4 these girls because life in the real world can and will take you down, you do not have the doors 2 hide behind in the real world as you do when your in high school so any teenagers who read this bear this in mind. Everyone is judging these girls even though they've never met them. Half the country says they're bad people, and all they know of them is a couple of pictures. Look, I'm not saying these girls were OR weren't nice people, I'm just saying, from the photos I've seen, they're exactly like any other person I have ever seen or met that has a group of friends. Seriously. On myspace, look at any girl's profile pics. No matter WHAT age they are (under 30 I guess), there will be pictures of them messing around, possibly doing illegal or 'scandalous' things, and just having fun with their friends. These girls are probably traumatized from this experience, because they're nothing new, but everyone is treating them like they are. Maybe they were bullies, talked back to teachers, cut class, cheated on tests, maybe they didn't do any of that, it doesn't matter. They should be punished for that if it's true. But putting pictures of yourself on the internet is just a fact of life if you have a camera and friends. So just get over that part. They don't deserve the infamy they've got, whether or not they wanted it.

This maybe normal to McKinney High. But, they physically assulted other students. Had this been in Miami, those girls would have gotten beaten to a pulp, and her mother being the principle would not matter. Someone would have taught her a lesson too, if it were their child this girls were treating like that. Do think it is now a big deal, this community was setting these girl up for failure in life. Because, outside of their high, they are nothing and someone would have shown each one of that eventually

Well, it's very obvious where the differences in opinions are in this forum. Most of the "high school" students are (for some odd reason) protecting these girls and almost justifying their behavior because other kids do it too.
I am a mother of three and I know my kids would NEVER lay a hand on another human being. I don't know how the Lifetime Movie compares to the actual events that took place, but I was sooooo disgusted with the violence. OMG did they grow up on the streets? Where were the parents during there childhood? I feel so bad for these girls that they were not taught about consequences. I truly hope these girls have learned something from this, otherwise the real world may be very tough for them.

I just saw the movie tonight on Lifetime. I was apalled at the behavior of these girls. I realize it was drama based on real-life. I have been teaching in public schools for over 23 years. If this type of behavior was going on, then yes the principal and superintendent and any other school officials involved should have been fired. The parents were idiots for letting this go on. They should have had to take a parenting class before giving birth. Too often nowadays parents are not saying the word "NO" to their children. They don't want to listen to the whining and the negative fall back. They would instead prefer to be a friend.

people need to stop trash talking these girls, they messed up, so what? everyone does it, i dont understand how this has made national news. this stuff happens all the time in mckinney and it is not that big of a deal, people need to stop creating drama and give the "Fab Five" a break

I think that your idea in whether or not what these girls did was "normal" is trivial, and it shows even more how each year the kids get worse and worse. It's only been two years since I've been out of high school and I NEVER once did anything close to what those girls did and was still well-known and a leader in my school. I'm glad those girls reputations got ruined because maybe it'll set a better reputation to the younger generation that you don't have to act slutty or drink when you're young to be popular.

Linda Theret is a great principle sure she made a few mistakes & she shouldn't have covered up as much as she did but think about it this way if it was your daughter you would have done the same thing. You would have tried to save your kid the humility. Now these girls have ruined their senior year, & have no respect from their class mates. This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard about, don't compare them to movie s like bring it on & mean girls. if anything movie producers should be blamed they made the movies.....? Look, we're all taking this way too seriously. I think one the reasons it made such large news is that all we've had to view for last 10 days or so is Gerry Ford's funeral and some new information on Duke scandal. Slow. This cheerleading thing is HOT. Period. If you are a hetero male btwn 15-65 y/o, you are on this story and looking for the pics out there on "MySpace.com". I want more, much more. I dont care about these girls motives, behavior or demographics. I want to see girls behaving badly and I want it now. Add to it they are from decent familes and they're also probably pretty hot and you have a great all-American story regardless of the outcome. Every state has a community with a high school where these girls exist and or are the norm. Big deal. F em. Out of 1200 students we have 5 chics running the system? Shame on the system. Who cares. Its high school for Christ Sakes. 4 yrs of wasted time before you start the journey which will be 10 times as fulfilling (college). Do I care if one or all of these girls are abducted and abused in their freshman year at UT-Austin? Hell no. Do I care if thier parents have either lost face or their jobs because of their behavior? It is one thing to be disrespectful to authorities in class, that is wrong. But dont draw out thier social behavior to discredit them as all teenage popular girls like to showboat themselves and "yes" even in a sexual mannor. We are all human and suffer from hormonal intervention of our psychi during our development as humans.
