Family Matters: Shaping Young Disciples

How can I help shape the life of a young person for God’s Kingdom?

  1. Learning to trust.
  2. 1 Timothy 1:1-2

    • Learn not to judge.
    • Learn not to minimize their feelings.
    • Learn to adjust expectations with life development.
  3. Learning to model truth.
  4. 2 Timothy 1:8

    • Barna and Matlock study shows that by age 14 average person has already defined their belief system.
    • Don’t hide from your past, but stress the present—Follow me as I follow Christ right now.
  5. Learning to let go.
  6. 2 Timothy 3:14-15

    • Relationships and truth have been there from the beginning. They serve as the foundation.
  7. Learning to set limits.
  8. 2 Timothy 2:22

    • Know your culture.
    • Understand the good and the bad.
    • Know your child/student.

So What?

  • Do I convey an attitude of trust to the young people I am around?
  • Do my actions line up with my words?
  • Do I try to control the life of a young person within my influence?
  • Do I say the hard things and provide guidance through relationship?
